The History of ‘The Shed’ Farm Shop
The Shed Farm Shop opened on 1st December 2014 and got its name from the ‘Shed’ which we started in. With a growing number of ‘gate-sales’ of our free range eggs we asked Littleport Timber Buildings to build a small 10ft by 12ft shed for us to use.
In 2012 we were awarded a small grant to help build a new egg grading and packing facility along with a butchery and small farm shop. After a protracted and difficult planning phase, we eventually got planning approval following a planning appeal. Sadly this was not before the dealays had put an end to our rare breed pork business.
the new ‘Shed’ was much bigger and was eventually completed in 2014. It provides a modest 15 square metre shop area.
At the Shed Farm Shop we try our hardest to find products from local producers who are passionate about what they produce and its quality. That’s not to say you wont find products from more distant places. Sometimes we discover things we like which are not produced locally, or that have a local link or process.
As a small business we value each and every customer and very much want people to return time and time again (as many in fact do). We very much want people to feel that the selction on offer is both affordable and value for money. Its important to remember however that the producers are small and many products are handcrafted with quality ingredients and thus some may be a little more expensive than the similar, but mass produced products avilable in supermarkets.
