Free Range Eggs
From hens kept in small flocksEggs as they should be...
We are very proud of the quality of our free range eggs. We keep our hens in small flocks and provide them with high quality feed and plenty of space both inside their home, and outside in their own garden – protected as far as possible from predators like Mr Fox!
The birds are vaccinated against many of the common diseases, including salmonella. Their health is closely monitored and they are regularly tested for Salmonella. This monitoring is backed up by the expertise of one of the UK’s leading poultry veterinary practices.
Once collected, the eggs are stored in a temperature controlled environment prior to quality checking. Once checked, they are stamped with our producer identity number and a ‘best before’ date before being packed on trays or in boxes ready for sale in our shop.
Eggs have a ‘best before’ date of 28 days post lay – and we rarely sell eggs older than 5 days post lay – (It’s not uncommon to be selling eggs collected that morning) – meaning they are always fresh.
